It's Official: Kevin Feige Confirms 'Deadpool 3' will take place within the MCU
The bomb has dropped and Marvel/Deadpool fans as well as Disney-cautious pop culture fanatics are rejoicing after it was revealed in an interview with Collider that Kevin Feige has gone on record as saying the following about Deadpool 3:
“It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”
In a world of continuing uncertainty, with push-back after push-back and us JUST being on the cusp of our first MCU-related content in what feels like eons with WandaVision premiering this week, the news is just all-around amazing to hear. Feige and Marvel are currently filming Thor 4 and Spider-Man 3 concurrently, with Doctor Strange And The Multiverse Of Madness as well as Black Panther 2 and Captain Marvel 2 also set to begin filming this year, I can't imagine this movie releasing within at least the next year and a half, but who knows what could happen. Good thing we're still getting that R-rating!
The movie is being directed by Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux who have written the series Bob's Burgers since 2012 which would hopefully assuage any directorial worries there. Wonder how many BB easter eggs we're getting in DP3 since the franchise loves tossing steamy little nuggets in any chance they get...
So. There it is. He's on-record. Here's the link if you don't believe us. They haven't revealed the entire interview yet but they promise it's coming soon. Goosebumps on every inch of my body right now, not gonna lie.
Deadpool 1 and 2 did not take place within the MCU, yet jokingly referenced them A LOT due to Disney purchasing 20th Century Fox at the time, and it was cemented that by the film's box office success( Deadpool 1 made $700m worldwide and Deadpool 2 made $785m worldwide) that the franchise is a monster and shouldn't be f*cked with.
