The original Ghostbusters hauled in $290 million at the global box office. The star-studded cast featured Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis, Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis, Annie Potts, and Ernie Hudson. The American Film Institute ranked the movie as the 28th best comedy picture of all time. In 1989, Ghostbusters II followed. It performed as well commercially, but wasn't received quite as well by critics and fans as the original.
The new installment Ghostbusters: Afterlife looks to build on the legacy and story of the first two films. The trailer certainly gave fans goosebumps. Next year, we'll have to see if this potential blockbuster that's 34 years in the making lives up to the hype that Hollywood is hoping for.
