Television legend Ted Danson (Cheers, Becker, The Good Place) is returning to television next year. The Emmy Award winner will star in NBC's Mr. Mayor, a poignant political comedy from the creators of 30 Rock and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. The show premieres Thursday, January 7 at 8/7c.

Check out the hilarious trailer below.

Mr. Mayor follows a retired businessman (Ted Danson) who runs for mayor of Los Angeles to prove he's "still got it." Once he wins, he has to figure out what he stands for, gain the respect of his biggest critic (Holly Hunter) and connect with his teenage daughter, all while trying to get anything right for America's second weirdest city.

The series also features Vella Lovell, Mike Cabellon, Kyla Kenedy, and Bobby Moynihan.

Oscar and Emmy Award winner Holly Hunter stars as Arpi.

Danson is back with a new series following the cancellation of another NBC show The Good Place. Danson starred alongside Kristen Bell for four seasons. The show was well-received by fans and critics alike. Season 4 wrapped up last January.

Mr. Mayor is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, Little Stranger, Bevel Gears and 3 Arts Entertainment. Robert Carlock, Tina Fey, Jeff Richmond and David Miner will executive produce. Eric Gurian will serve as a co-executive producer.
