XBox Announces Purchase of Bethesda & Parent Company ZeniMax Media for $7.5B.

In a Monday morning shock blast, videogame giant XBox has purchased ZeniMax Media, the company responsible for Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Wolfenstein, Quake, Doom & many more. The announcement came from an XBox Wire post this morning by Head of XBox Phil Spencer. XBox's parent company Microsoft is the negotiator behind the deal, and this comes at the surprise of just about anyone outside the inner Red Ring circle. Everything under the ZeniMax Media umbrella is now part of Microsoft, including Bethesta Game Studios, id Softwae, Arkane, MachineGames, Alpha Dog, Roundhouse Studios, ZeniMax Online Studios and...there's probably more but that's off the top of our head.

Pete Hines, SVP of Global Marketing at Bethesda wrote in a blog article, "Yes, it’s a big change for us, but after taking a minute to absorb the magnitude of this acquisition, we’re going to continue doing what we know and love: making great games." If you want to read a truly passionate take on it, click that article link from Pete above for insight on his over 20yrs experience with Bethesda and why he said "Why Microsoft Is The Perfect Fit".

Coincidence that this is the day before XBox Series X and S goes up for pre-order? Hmm.

XBox states that it "will be adding Bethesda's iconic franchises to Xbox Game Pass for console and PC" *SPIT TAKE*
