Xbox & PSX's Free Games for June 2020

Xbox’s Games with Gold has four fun games for your enjoyment available this June.

We’ve listed each game with the dates along with links to more information if your interests have been piqued by this surface level info. Let's dive in.

Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse available from June 1st to 30th is the third game in the Shantae series originally released on the Nintendo 3DS and WiiU in 2014. Shantae is a half human half genie who uses her long hair as her main attack in this 2D adventure platformer. Youtube user be-neko did a full playthrough of the game if you wanna scope it out before you download.

Coffee Talk which only just launched back in January of this year is available from June 16 to July 15. The first sentence on their website describes the game wonderfully: “Coffee Talk is a game about listening to people’s problems and helping them by serving a warm drink out of the ingredients you have.

Destroy all humans available from June 1st to the 15th is probably the most relevant title on this list having been created by the studio named Pandemic. Originally for the Xbox and PS2 it was released back in 2005 and easily earned the Grand Theft Auto comparison that was thrown around to all sandbox destruction games at the time. The timing of this free release is a great little nudge reminder to hype everyone for the July 28th remake of this very game. Check out the trailer below.

Sine Mora available June 16th to the 30th is a horizontal shoot’em up in the veins of R-Type Delta and Ikaruga using 2D shooter gameplay with gorgeously rendered 3D backgrounds to bring you a flashing light experience not unlike close encounters of the third kind. But be careful because on the more insane difficulties this game could easily fall into the category of bullet hell.

Playstation Plus’ free games for June might have less quantity but the caliber seems to be much higher with the two games being triple A titles.

Call of Duty: WWII came out in 2017 and is the fourteenth game in the series which started seventeen years ago. The COD franchise has boasted some of the absolute best graphics and gameplay of the first person shooter genre. And some might say you’d think by now we would have seen it all or played through every possible angle of this war in these past seventeen years, but just as films and books are remade or rebooted time and time again, so too can a game that’s based on the most significant war in human history.

Star Wars Battlefront II which also released in 2017 was a long awaited title and huge release for it’s developer, Electronic Arts. I know I was tempted to get it with all the hype and trailers that were flooding the internet, but right before it dropped people started to realize there was an issue. And you can’t mention this game without mentioning the, as Forbes called it, “Loot Box Fiasco” which caused EA’s stocks to plummet. But don’t let that get you down. They pulled the loot boxes right before launch and any pay to win items according to IGN. So grab it while you can and make the Empire pay!
