First Trailer for "Scream" Brings 25yrs Of Terror Into The 2020s Along With Many Familiar Faces
We've seen concept after concept between artwork and trailers for years now, but an official trailer for the 2022 release of "Scream"(which will be confusing to some) will mark the fifth installment of the series that started 25 years ago. That's right, fam. It's been TWENTY FIVE YEARS since the original Scream debuted on December 18th, 1996. Scream was the first "self-referential" horror movie ever made and it hit at a time when the world was starved for something fresh, and they used self-aware horror movie tactics and cliches in-order to survive.
Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and even the unkillable David Arquette are back along with new cast members Jenna Ortega(The Babysitter: Killer Queen) as Tara Carpenter and Melissa Barrera(In The Heights, Vida) as Sam Carpenter...a nod to Director Jon Carpenter? plus Richie Kirsch(Hunger Games, Logan Lucky) as Jack Quaid.
From the get you can tell that they're bringing the 2020s into the fold here with smartphones, smart locks & more...and with the "Sidney...it's an honor" line that Ghostface proclaims to Campbell's character, it looks like we have a copycat on our hands...or do we?
I for one am an unabashedly gratuitous sucker for this franchise. The first flick came out when I was in high school and really defined the era for us back then. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to take some Centrum Silver and watch this trailer for a fifth time.
